The Forum became a Statutory Consultee for planning applications for the South Newnham Neighbourhood Area, when it was designated in March 2017 and re-designated in 2022 to write a Neighbourhood Plan.

 

Greater Cambridge Shared Planning notifies all Statutory Consultees on a weekly basis of any new planning applications in the city wards and the Forum may respond to planning applications in the South Newnham area. The Forum is guided by the National Planning Policy framework and policies in the Cambridge Local Plan 2018 and, where relevant, the Newnham Croft and West Cambridge Conservation Area Appraisals and, where relevant, Supplementary Planning Documents.

Since the adoption of the Neighbourhood Plan in February 2025 the policies in the South Newnham Neighbourhood Plan are now considered alongside the policies in the Cambridge Local Plan in determining planning applications.

Table 1 below lists the comments sent to case officers during the period 2017 to 2024. Table 2 lists comments from 2025, which include any reference to the South Newnham Neighbourhood Plan.
